Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Cealshell ("cealshell.dev", "we", "us", or "our") collects when you use the Service, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to keep the data we hold to the minimum needed to run the platform.

1. Installing packages does not require an account

Cealshell has no central registry. When you install a package, the CLI asks the proxy to resolve a repository reference and fetch a model from GitHub or Codeberg. That request is anonymous: it carries no account, no identity, and nothing that ties an install to a person. We do not maintain download counts or per-user install history.

The proxy keeps a small cache of resolved version metadata — repository names, tags, and asset URLs. That cache describes public repositories, not people. Beyond that, our hosting provider processes the ordinary technical data any web request involves (such as IP address and user agent) for delivery, security, and abuse prevention; we do not use it to build profiles.

2. Information we collect if you create an account

Accounts are optional and only apply to this website. If you sign in, we store only the following:

  • Roblox ID — the unique identifier from your Roblox account, used to authenticate you.
  • Discord ID — the unique identifier from your Discord account, if you link one.
  • Username — the display name associated with your account.
  • Timestamps — records such as when your account was created or last updated.
  • E-Mails — required for contact.

We do not collect or store your passwords, payment details, or message content. Authentication is handled through Roblox and Discord, so we never see your login credentials for those services. (Note that legacy accounts store encrypted passwords due to them being based on e-mails and passwords.)

3. How we use your information

We use the information above only to operate and maintain the Service, specifically to:

  • Authenticate you and keep you signed in.
  • Display your username on your profile.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the platform.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Third-party services

Cealshell relies on a small number of third-party providers to function. These include Roblox and Discord for authentication, and our hosting and infrastructure providers for serving the website, running the proxy, and storing account data. When you authenticate, the relevant platform's own privacy policy applies to the data they process on their side.

Installs also reach GitHub or Codeberg, since that is where packages actually live. Those requests are made by the proxy on your behalf, so the host sees our infrastructure rather than you — but their own privacy policies govern what they log. If you self-host the proxy or set a different remote, this policy no longer covers those requests.

5. Cookies and sessions

We use essential cookies and similar technologies solely to keep you signed in and to operate the Service. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. The CLI does not use cookies at all.

6. Data retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, the associated data is removed as described below.

7. Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Our database automatically removes your associated data from our active systems immediately when you do so. Residual copies held in backups are purged on the schedule described in the Backups section below. If you have trouble deleting your account, contact us using the details below and we will help.

Deleting your account has no effect on packages you have published, because they were never ours to delete — they remain in your own GitHub or Codeberg repositories, under your control.

8. Backups

Our backend automatically creates a full copy of the database each day for disaster recovery. These backups are access-restricted and are not used for any other purpose. Each backup is automatically deleted 30 days after it is created, so a copy of your data may remain in backups for up to 32 days after you delete your account before it is permanently gone.

9. Children's privacy

Cealshell is not directed at children below the minimum age required to hold a Roblox or Discord account in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone who is not permitted to use those platforms.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date above. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

11. Contact

If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your data, reach out through our Discord community or via the GitHub repository. You may also want to read our Terms of Service.
